MY DOGS
Meet the dogs in my life who are at the forefront of everything.
Jetta
18/04/2011 – 20/10/2021
The girl who started it all. My first ever dog – a working line German Shepherd Dog. Jetta took me to levels I could never have imagined. Starting off as an active pet, she then became my demo dog during my Senior Instructor years for pet dog obedience in 2011. However soon after we both dove head first into the incredible world of IGP (formerly known as Schutzhund/IPO). My journey in the sport world is what opened my world to a whole new dimension of learning and growth. Some of Jetta’s incredible achievements in IGP include 2014 1st place IPO1 at club trial, 2014 National IPO1 Champion, 2014 National Teams Champion, 2014 National High In Trial Tracking with the first 100 point score since Schutzhund Australia’s organisation began in 2006, and 2016 National High In Trial Tracking with 96 points. I miss her every, single, day. I owe her so much. My beautiful Jetta Superstar.
Hunter
Boy oh boy, this dog! Talk about an awakening, haha! Just when you think you have it all worked out with one dog, the next one comes along to show you how little you really know. From the very first day Hunter stepped into my home he brought with him big energy and big attitude. A little firecracker. A firecracker who really pushed me to be better. Hunter – a dog who commands respect. A big, strong, powerful dog with a small, compact handler. But it worked, and man did it work beautifully. Hunter not only showed me what power felt like, he forced my hand as a handler to learn how to drive that power. When I work with this dog I can feel his energy bubbling next to me like molten lava. He makes me feel invisible. Untouchable. His commitment is second to none and his work ethic undeniable. Achieving our IGP3 together was the biggest achievement for us both. For those who know Hunter and the grunt this dog has behind him, they will appreciate the journey it took to get him there. This boy has a string of notable achievements in IGP including 2017 first place IPO1 and High In Trial Protection with 98 points, 2019 IGP2 High In Trial Obedience, and 2022 IGP3 High In Trial Tracking / High In Trial Obedience / High In Trial Protection. Hunter is that once in a lifetime dog for me. My boy, my beast, my devil.
Fury
My self-bred daughter of Jetta and Hunter. Fury does everything at a hundred miles an hour – the way she lives life. Yet she is incredibly social and stable. Lovingly known as Furylicious, she has been the young face of my IGP training journey from the tender age of 6 weeks. Many know her from my social media posts and those who have met her have enjoyed her many cuddles on and off the field. All that meet her can’t help but smile. She loves fiercely and she works fiercely. Her upbringing has been quite different to my other dogs, with new training techniques implemented, improved training applications, and a goal to have a dog that inspires others. As the new IGP kid on the block she achieved 2019 Best BH and has been an invaluable teacher to many clients and students (handlers and dogs) who have come my, and her, way – both in the sport and pet world. I thank my stars everyday for having a dog like her.
